Pastoral Training / Internship

The pastoral internship program at Crossroads Church exists to help equip men for the work of pastoral ministry. Our aim is to fulfill Paul’s instruction to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:2:  “what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”

The length of the pastoral internship program is a total of 48 weeks. It is designed to cover six topics in eight-week semesters (1 topic per semester). A total of four semesters will be offered during a calendar year. This means that the entire program can be completed within a timeframe of 18 months. During a semester the interns will meet weekly with Pastor Matthew Emadi. The weekly meeting will be discussion based focusing on the week’s reading material. Some writing assignments will also be required. The interns will also have the opportunity to attend elder’s meetings, counseling sessions, hospital visits, and other pastoral duties within the life of the church.

Participants in this program should not expect to serve as an elder or staff member of Crossroads church upon completion of the program. Nor does completion of this program guarantee that the elder’s of Crossroads church will affirm the individual’s sense of calling into pastoral ministry. Furthermore, Crossroads Church does not require the completion of this internship as a prerequisite to qualifying for eldership at Crossroads.
